What to Expect

Your first acupuncture session is scheduled for 90mins. This includes a detailed history, exam and acupuncture treatment. Follow up visits are scheduled for 60mins.  Along with acupuncture, you may receive cupping therapy, Gua-sha and lifestyle modifications.

Traditional Cupping Therapy

Cupping Therapy is a technique that uses cups placed over the skin to create negative pressure through suctionEvidence of cupping therapy include: promotion of the skin’s blood flow, change the biomechanical properties of skin. It increases pain thresholds, improves local anaerobic metabolism, reduces inflammation and modulation of the cellular immune system.

Gua-Sha

Gua sha is a healing method using a smooth-edged spoon-like tool to assertively stroke the skin at and around a painful or injured area. This motion raises blood circulation to the area while also removing inured and dead cellular debris which leads to the pain sensation you feel. We use gua sha to treat chronic pain that can occur anywhere on the body and it is often used alongside other complementary treatments like herbal medicine, massage, acupuncture, and heat therapy.
